A big challenge for our leaders: Can Australia become a Global Energy Power?

EVENT VIDEO: On Tuesday 4 September 2012, the AIIA NSW hosted David Byers – Chief Executive of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) – to discuss Australia’s energy policies and the challenges we face with over-pricing in the labor market, the Green’s influence in Canberra and environmental costs of exploration and extraction.

Mr Byer’s presentation came in the context of Australia recently (April/May) missing the opportunity of becoming the world’s largest exporter of natural gas, investment in traditional gas projects (both onshore and offshore) running at record levels and Australia exploiting unconventional sources of gas through coal seam gas and shale.

In this video Mr Byers discusses these issues and many more.

  1. If government is able to sort out some of the issues related to CSG production then in next few years, Australia will definitely become the leader of global energy .
